3RD FAZE
3rd Faze (GFI/Edel)

Can we please build a big fence around Orlando? 3rd Faze is touted as the "the next explosive group out of Orlando, following in the footsteps of the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync." They're following in their blueprints, is what they're doing. The harmony blueprint, the ballad blueprint, the whole schtick. As the CD plays, my 14 year old daughter sits in an office chair, shifting uncomfortably, reading liner notes and listening. "That one's totally copying Pink! I don't like when people copy Pink. Pink's original," she tells me. Could be. As the song "Over You" wafts from the speakers like Limburger cheese, she spins in the chair and says "Oh my God, that's totally like... this other song!!" The truth comes out: the clones clone clones cloning clones until no one's known. What'd I say? So what can be said for these three girls? They're attractive. That's a big shock in the world of disposable pop music, huh? According to their bios on their web site, Minia Corominas' favorite sport is football (making her the perfect sexy blonde, huh?? Am I right?); Sara Marie Rauch collects African zebra carvings (the hard part is to get the knife handle to stay in the zebra's hoof long enough for him to create his art), and Halie Clark, apparently upset that Sara already had the zebra thing covered, is into "bee collectables." Mmmm... dunno what that is. All I know is all of that is far more interesting than any single moment of the throw-away producer-created music on this CD, which even my 14 year old has already walked out on. Me too. NEXT!
