BUCK 65
Vertex (no label)
Reviewed by Jason

Hip hop is becoming less and less
ghetto these days, and with the
arrival of the Anticon gang (Sixtoo, cLOUDDEAD,
Sage Francis, Sole, So Called Artists,
Controller?, DJ Mayonnaise, Stuffed Animals,
Object Beings, Themselves, Why?, and Buck 65,
etc.) it makes a magnificent voyage into an
almost sci-fi realm, as the subject matter
becomes less predictable than it has been
recently, and the production is often done by the
rappers themselves. Buck 65 once again did
all the work (aside from the
artwork, he reminds us) on this fantastic album.
I’ve been watching this boy for less than a year,
and he’s already dropped three discs. All of them
are essential listening. Pee Diddy take some
notes-- please!
