THE ORIGINAL HARMONY CREEK DIPPERS
Self Titled (Koch)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
It was a sad day indeed when Mark Olson and his golden voice left The Jayhawks,
but the good
news is he never really stopped singing. Hooking up with his bride, the
incomparable Victoria
Williams, and instrumental jack of all trades Razz Russell, Olson delivers a set
of stark
Americana folk numbers. Tunes that are lazy, soft, and fragile. Tunes that
feature mandolin
strumming, some whistling and Victoria's distinct croaky vocal in the distance.
Originally
released in '97, and only available through the Creek Dippers themselves, this
charming set
of rootsy ballads finally sees proper release for the masses. You know what to
do.
