ROBERT PLANT
Dreamland (Universal)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

The sketchy nature of Robert Plant's post-Zep meanderings continues in fine confusing fashion. Though ex-Cure guitarist Lol Thompson is along for the ride there is nothing to suggest his impact. Instead Plant reverts to an early minstrel ballad mode sure to please those awaiting some sort of "coming to his senses" comeback. Covering troubled idols Skip Spence and Tim Buckley, and delivering a Love style version of "Hey Joe" that gets a bit out of hand, Plant finally puts to record the influences he's long talked about. Old dog, old tricks, new life.
