A bit out of time, yet oh so tasty. Metric may be digging up ancient (by pop music standards) styles, but they excel at their craft and should not be slaves to the fashion of the times. A clean, choppy, guitar and keyboard backdrop that'd be right at home twenty years past sets up the enchanting vocals of Emily Hanes, who doesn't whisper, or whine. She sings, damn it, sings! Metric may defy logic and find success with new wave in this day and age, especially since their tunes are damn catchy. A long shot worth cheering for.
