THOSE UNKNOWN
self-titled (TKO)
Reviewed by Alan Wright
This excellent CD of Oi! Streetpunk came out in 1994 and this
reissue includes a couple of live bonus tracks. It's pretty
straightforward stuff, not too fast, recorded with all the
rough edges left intact and a singer who sounds uncannily like
Jake Burns from Stiff Little Fingers. All the songs are catchy
and seem to revolve around drinking, having fun, playing loud
music, and some forays into political matters as on "Cry Of A
Nation." I especially enjoyed drummer Rich Owens' liner notes
where he talks about apathy in the punk and Oi! Scene, and
bemoans the lack of political awareness amongst skinheads in
particular.
