THE TYRADES
Tyrades (Broken Rekids)
Reviewed by DJ Johnson
It takes a few minutes for the initial shock to wear off, but many will find this band interesting and energizing. The rest will toss their discman CD players into trash mashers to make sure the sound can't start up again. Why? Because over the aggressive punk guitar/bass/drums assault is the voice of Jenna Tyrade, who sounds like a sore-throated and pissed-off Geddy Lee. I find that an interesting sound, but I notice I've suddenly got the room to myself, so I'm thinking it's an either/or proposition. Word has it this band is a hybrid of The Baseball Furies and Trailer Park Tornados, which certainly explains the rockin' music Jenna either graces or disgraces, depending on your point of view. Look for a sound clip and figure out which side of the fence you're on before popping for it, unless you're a Rush fan who also likes loud, hard rock-based punk, in which case you should snag this immediately.
