ATOMIC 7
...En Hillbilly Caliente (Mint)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Hey it's officially summer cuz Atomic 7 have a new beverage coaster / music platter for one and all. You've enjoyed the breezy guitar twangs, strums and plucks of Brian Connelly since the days when Men were Shadowy, so why stop now? Seventeen sumptuous instro snacks with nary a hint of prose to get in the way: geetar music the way GOD (Clapton, Page, Hendrix - take yer pick) intended. Actually, scratch that last bit of frivolity - don't want anyone getting all juiced up about wank rock, for this is anything but. Short, distortion and solo-free snippets ideal for the BBQ season, replete with clever titles ("Funeral Hotpants," "The Wreck of the Dick Family Weiner Boat"), are packaged in Atomic's signature swanky retro artwork. There's even a good dose of exotica in the mix for those loud Hawaiian shirt days. Ta-dah!
