BATTERSHELL
Luv Punks (Ng)

Every now and then you need a bucket o' water in the face reminder
of what punk was, and should be. Thanks Battershell for getting me
all wet. This "Luv Punk" album starts off innocently enough, with
jangly guitars and dreamy vocals from Tammy Lynn, sounding very
much like the radio friendly pop punk of The Pretenders. The tempo
races progressively, culminating in the super charged "Holy Roller".
And if there was any doubt about what influences adorn this trio's
sleeves, they whip through a grand version of "White Wedding". Yes
kids, punk rock is really sped up bubble gum pop delivered with
snotty vocals and choppy guitar chords, and Billy Idol was the man.
Come down offa that cloud ye sinner, for I know you bounced
happily on yer springy bunkbed to Generation X, and here's a chance
to continue where you left off before grunge so rudely interrupted yer
boppin' fun. Best of all is the quick hidden track medley which
includes a galloping Hee-Hawer about Art (who likes to fart), a
matter of frank rawk anthem about head, and a wild guitar wigout to
finish ya off. Guilty pleasures are the best kind after all.
