The Dixie Hummingbirds' celebrating seventy years in the music biz is truly a mind-boggling event. Seventy years! There must be something to this gospel thing after all. Bigshots like Paul Simon, Mavis Staples, Stevie Wonder and Wynonna Judd help out for the festivities, but it's still the Hummingbirds' gig: that wonderful and dynamic quartet of angelic voices lead by Ira Tucker Sr. Gospel music doesn't seem to have any time constraints, so as long as there are new Hummingbirds ready to fill the shoes, the show will go on. A-men.
