LOCKGROOVE
Rewired (Krave)
Reviewed by

Lockgroove is one of Boston's hottest club bands and their first Krave
Records release shows why they've captured the Beantown rock scene by storm.
Lockgroove's grooves are longer than most, five to eight minute rockers,
suitable for jamming, dancing and repeat listenings. While the opening
chords of "Take It Away" reminded me of early Gin Blossoms, this talented
band stormed into my speakers with a long, loud jam propelled by Adam
Brilla's guitar, Dave Goodman's bass and Martin Rex's drums. Ryan Rex's
vocals on the opening cut have the right mix of jagged desperation. The
dissonant "Dragonfly" ambles darkly until until it picks up speed, all metal
and mayhem behind strong punk-influenced vocals. The multi layered "So Small"
is one of the most radio friendly indie releases to hit the CD shelves, and I
hope it will be the disc's leading single. Lockgroove has been a Boston
Globe Critic's Pick and winner of the Boston Phoenix's Best Music Poll, but
Rewired won't be released until New Year's Day. Until then, check 'em out
when they're in the Boston area at venues like TT The Bear's Place or online
at http://www.kraverec.com.
