Remember when Comedy Central had a daily two hour montage of quick stand up comedy bits called Short Attention Span Theater? This is its musical counterpart. Easily the most fun CD of the year thus far, Short Music For Short People gives us 101 songs by 101 bands, each playing songs in the 30-second range. These aren't songs that were slapped together for the project, though. These are songs that were already out there waiting for some genius to come up with a compilation concept like this. Can you get a feel for a song in 30 seconds? Nope, but you sure can get an adrenalin buzz from the sheer velocity of the proceedings. There are no long pauses between songs, either, which is a good thing because that would kill the point. With hit and run's by the likes of Chixdiggit, The Misfits, Dwarves, Black Flag, Poison Idea, Swingin' Utters, Samiam, Jughead's Revenge, Blink 182, Agnostic Front, Snuff, The Offspring, Green Day, Mr. T. Experience and (lots and lots of) others, there's more punch packed in here than in any other single CD in the bins. Best of all, your coffee, cocaine and speed breakfast is totally unnecessary now, though this thing is just as habit forming. Due to space considerations, we'll forego the track list, k?
