THE V-ROYS
Are You Through Yet?...Live (Self-Released)

In December of last year, and after an exciting six-year run, the V-Roys released their final album, Are You Through Yet?...Live. Containing 17 songs pulled mostly from their two records that E-Squared released, Just Add Ice and All About Town, it includes the crowd favorites "Cry, " "Mary," "Hold On To Me," "Guess I Know I'm Right," "Sooner Or Later," and "Wind Down." It also features several covers, including Neil Young's "Motion Pictures" and Bap Kennedy's "I Want My Money." Too many live records fail to capture the intensity and excitement of the moment. Are You Through Yet? does a credible job with music, though it curiously lacks the sounds, before and after songs, of a frenzied crowd so typical at the band's live shows. The V- Roys were one of my favorite bands on record, and they never failed to deliver the goods live with hard-rocking roots and heavy doses of pop and rockabilly fervor. Characterized in part by the black suits and ties they wore on stage, the V-Roys were consummate performers. Are You Through Yet? was recorded on August 14, 1999 at the Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee, and the band played their final show on New Year's Eve at the Tennessee Theatre in their hometown of Knoxville. This is worth it for the memories alone. www.vroys.com
