ALISON KRAUSS & UNION STATION
New Favorite (Rounder)

The formula is pretty well in place now. Pick a bunch of songs by some of
the best songwriters you can find, some of which happen to be in your band.
Include some traditional bluegrass sounds and some country ballads with
crossover potential. Pass the lead vocals around, but reserve the lion's
share for that pretty fiddler with the sweetest voice in the land. Have a
band that features an all-star on every instrument. Put it all together,
put it all out there and let the people be astonished.
Yep, it's really that easy, if you happen to be Alison Krauss & Union
Station. Of course, nobody else is, and nobody else is even a close
contender, so if this is the stuff you like, you have to wait until they do
some. The good news is, they did some, and New Favorite lives up to its
title.
