BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS

Uprising (Tuff Gong)
Confrontation (Tuff Gong)

The good news is that relatively little staff blood stained the Cosmik Towers carpets after the battle for our various shares of the Bob Marley & The Wailers reissues. Even better news is that I got three! Best news of all is that they're all out there now for you to get for your own selves, and they sound terrific.

The sound is the big news here, because far too many people only know Marley's music from the vast array of low quality, budget, import and bootleg editions that are out there. I'm not sure what the particular licensing and copyright issues are that have allowed the Wailers' legacy to be plundered so mercilessly, but the bottom line is that a lot of people have heard a lot of material without ever hearing it as the artist intended. With the release of his Tuff Gong catalog in this Definitive Remasters series, there's simply no excuse for that being true any longer.

Some of the discs contain bonus material in the form of 12" mixes and other alternate takes, and that's all to the good, having first rate sound available for these first rate recordings is the story, and it's a story with a very happy ending.
