THE GUTHRIES
Off Windmill (Brobdingnagian)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Oh this is sweet. Leading off with a splendid chip of folk rock that immediately
brings the Wilco boys to mind, The Guthries waste no time in the warm and fuzzy
department. Their east coast country is easy listening if'n you know what I
mean. Friendly, honest, immediate songs that come from open spaces and smoke
filled drinking holes - a truly Canadian experience if ever there was one. And
like the aforementioned alt.country suppa stars, this outfit sure can play. I'm
especially partial to that lap steel sound. Oh yeah.
