PAUL OAKENFOLD
Swordfish (The Album) (Warner Sunset)
Reviewed by Shaun Dale
I haven't seen the flick yet (I still haven't forgiven star John Travolta
for Battlefield Earth), but a soundtrack this good doesn't need a film.
Technically, this is a various artists collection, but when master DJ Paul
Oakenfold puts his stamp on the mix, he definitely deserves top billing.
It's at trance-hop tour de force, featuring Oakenfold and a supporting cast
that includes Lee Harvey & Vita, Afrika Bambaataa, Patient Saints, Planet
Perfecto, The Soul Sonic Force and others.
Oakenfold's turntable skills seem as perfectly suited for film as they have
proven for international dancefloors. His techno-trance tastes would seem
to be a fine match for the techno-hacker mystery theme of the film. If the
film gets to the 3 buck second run joint down the street, I might even find
out. Meanwhile, the sountrack's turned up and I feel like dancing. Later.
