ROONEY
Time On Their Hands (Common Culture Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Rooney sounds a lot like what early Psychic TV would have sounded like if
Genesis P-Orridge had been singing about the mundanities of life, like going to
the store and hanging around his apartment, instead of mythical creatures and
religion. There's the same quiet, understated singing voice, the electronic
instrumentation mixed with classical elements, repeated loops and feedback,
making for some really, really cool songs about eating chips and staring out
the window.
