Shovelbarn (Fabulous Music)

Yet another album that lumps itself into that whole uninspired Pantera/Korn/Rage Against the Machine faceless collective, with one exception - the lead singer's in a wheelchair. I only mention this because the fact is shoved at me, the reviewer, from every direction, from the press kit included with the disc, from the cover photo of the singer's wheelchair, from the concert flyers describing the hope inspired in audiences everywhere from watching Bradford James Baker's incredible wheelchair antics on stage. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I think this kind of propaganda lends itself to that whole discriminatory "She actually plays the guitar she's posing with" type of silly awe that's damaged women in rock for years. But hey, who am I to decide what makes up a role model, or what makes someone decide that they are one? I could be completely off base here.
