Producer Joel Dorn may have done most of the heavy lifting on the original
Atlantic Records releases of the majority of these tracks, but the hand of
his son Adam, who works creatively under the nomme de turntable Mocean
Worker, is evident in the selection and sequencing of this collection.
Seems so to me, anyway. That's a very good thing, in this case, as this
collection, most of which are cuts that date back decades, sounds as fresh
as tomorrow.
While all this material stands fine on it's own, this disc should really
be saved for those times when you can set aside the hour it takes to
listen start to finish. And really listen. They recommend headphones,
and it's advice worth taking. All of this material operates on deeper
levels than a cursory listen will reveal. Patience and attention will be
rewarded.
