Sweet Emotion: Songs Of Aerosmith (Heavy Hip Mama/Navarre)
Reviewed by John Sekerka
Bringing Aerosmith full circle, back to it's Chicago blues roots, makes perfect
sense as a tribute record. Employing the likes of Otis Clay, Pinetop Perkins and
David "Honeyboy" Edwards ensures classic hard rock radio staples are dissected
to core basics, and transformed to their rightful place of origin. A relative
upstart on the scene, Tad Robinson almost steals the show with a smoky, soulful
vocal on "Draw the Line" while Little Walter blows sweet harp accompaniment. The
ever scorching Texan blues belle, Lou Ann Barton shows off her formidable lungs
on a grand version of "One Way Street". And in a surprise gospel take on "Dream
On", Kim McFarland shows where Joe and Steve will no doubt be heading as they
roll on down to pension city.
