DEAD BROTHERS
Dead Music for Dead People (Voodoo Rhythm)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This album, this band, is just fantastic. The 9-piece Dead Brothers,
hailing from Switzerland, are like a cross between a New Orleans funeral
procession and The Cramps, with gorgeous tubas and accordions and a host of
tinny horns and stringed instruments and devastatingly funny/creepy lyrics
about dead children and girls in short skirts and finding things in the mud,
sung in both English and French. Lead singer Dead Alain takes these songs
right over the top with his falsetto impersonation of a nagging wife in
"Farmer Boy" - sounds so much like my husband's impersonation of me that I
almost choked the first time I heard it.
