ERNIE THACKER
The Chill of Lonesome (Doobie Shea Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
Ernie Thacker has an absolutely amazing voice, rich and deep with the
slightest of Southern twangs, extremely well-suited for this type of
Appalachian-style folksy country stuff. Backed by a band consisting of a
multitude of guitars, a mandolin, and a fiddle, these songs about love and
God and trucks come across as wonderfully intimate, as though the band might
have set up in your living room, yet are so professionally recorded that
it's far from an impromptu jam session.
