MAKERS
Strangest Parade (Sub Pop)

Reviewed by Alan Wright

It's been a couple of years since the Makers' last release, a "concept album" called "Rock Star God." I liked that okay, but it was no "Ziggy Stardust" or "Zen Arcade." On this one, they have veered more into psychedelic territory, with backwards guitars, mellotron, and weird effects. Some songs have a strong Mott The Hoople vibe going on. I like this more and more with every listen. A lot of their older fans really hate this, but I dig it.
