Louie DeVito's Trance Sessions (Musicrama)
Reviewed by Rusty Pipes
Are you ready for gut-kicking electronic dance music?
This is the first mix album of trance music by the club wizard Louie DeVito. Although you might expect a spacier kind of music when it's called "trance," this is a straightforward techno-rave CD that only needs lights, fog and a thousand watts or two to send your party into a state of trance-dance bliss.
There's few vocals, mostly it's instrumental beats overlaid with spoken word samples, unlike Louie's Dance Factory album or his New York Underground series. The music just flows seamlessly through all 18 cuts with irresistible 21st Century beats. Indeed it's hard to pick out favorites, it's all a testament to DeVito's marvelous ability to make the dance floor bounce.
