Audio Book: A Passage To India
Written by E.M. Forster (The Audio Partners)

Reviewed by Erick Mertz

The Audio Partners Publishing Group is doing a wonderful job lately of bringing classic, yet tragically understated books out in audio format. Next in that line is 1924's A Passage To India, the last novel of English author E.M. Forster who also penned Howard's End, A Room With A View and Where Angels Fear to Tread.

The question of what actually happened in the Marabar Caves is the central drama in the story. Such principals as Adela Quested and Dr. Aziz work in a colonial India fighting a generation of prejudices and, in a greater sense, for the subcontinent's freedom from British rule. For author Edward Morgan Forster, the publication of A Passage to India was an acknowledgement of a masterwork. For the forty six years between its release and his death, Forster wrote no novels, instead dedicating himself to a whole host of hobbies.

The reader for this edition is Cambridge educated Sam Dastor, an award winning performer and also the reader of Kim for the Audio Partners. He has appeared in a number of movies and television programs, most recently Peter Smith's The Alchemist.
