CHRISTOPHER JAK
Applause Of The Rain (440 Records)
Reviewed by Shaun Dale
A member of the American Boys Choir at ten, the strength of Christopher
Jak's vocal performance on his debut CD, Applause Of The Rain, is hardly
unexpected, but nobody expects songs of this quality on a
singer/songwriter's first outing. Sure, it happens, once in a blue moon,
and when it does it usually happens to someone who becomes part of our lives
for a long time to come. That's just what I expect will become of Mr. Jak.
The backing is primarily acoustic and straightforward, with occasional, and
effective, use of a string section. All the accompaniment is in service to
the melody, and the melody is the platform for Jak's exceptional skill as a
wordsmith. Add his voice, with the clarity that training provides, but the
passion that comes from singing songs you care about, and you have the first
ten tracks of a career that I hope will provide hundreds more. Get in on
the ground floor with this guy, and get yourself a copy of Applause Of The
Rain.
Track List: Hold On Tight * Squeeze * The Swimmer * Come On With Me * Day
