THE DEL McCOURY BAND
It's Just The Night (McCoury Music/Sugar Hill)
Reviewed by Shaun Dale
With It's Just The Night, Del McCoury continues to stack up evidence that
he's simply the best male singer on the bluegrass scene today, with one of
the tightest bands and one of the best ears for a great song, traditional or
contemporary. There's not a lick missed here, musically or emotionally.
Once again, he dips into the Richard Thompson songbook,
this time for a pair of tracks, and proves himself to be the foremost
interpreter of Thompson's work around, in addition to his other talents.
If you don't love Del McCoury, well, you just don't like bluegrass. If you
do like bluegrass, you'll love this album.
