Some real fine Aussie testosterone-laced rawk here. Reminds me a little of the Cosmic Psychos in that this is a heavy guitar-based trio that kicks out the jams on all fronts. Great sarcastic and often hilarious lyrics, a loud guitar attack and a raw, yet not too lo-fi sound. Cool tunes like "I'm Okay - You're Fucked," - with great "whoah-whoah" parts - "Are You Ready To Hate Us?," "My Band Is better Than Your Band," the 23 second long "The Butler Did It," the very Dictators-ish "One Trick Pony," and a cover of Devo's "Uncontrollable Urge." The short album ends off with the 48 second "We Used Your Record As A Beer Coaster."
Jed Whitey also appear on the The "Stripped Down, Fueled Up" CD which features three more bands: Electric Frankenstein, the Puppies and Ironboss. All play similarly styled guitar rawk. EF contribute four barn-burning rockers, one of which oddly enough, "Sweet-Baby Arrogance," uses a riff almost identical to Jed Whitey's "On Trick Pony!" Jed Whitey rock out some more on this with their four tunes, one of which is a great cover of Discharge's "State Violence, State Control." The Puppies feature cool girlie vocals and their three songs - "Secret Agent Girl," "Jackie and Bruce" and "Evil Cowgirl" - are pretty cool. Ironboss, who I'm familiar with from at least one past CD some label sent me to review rock out hard and loud, with some comparison in sound to Motorhead. "Go Go Go" and "The Jig Is Up" are particularly engaging.
