MODEY LEMON
Thunder and Lightning (Birdman)

Reviewed by Erick Mertz

I like what Modey Lemon is trying for on Thunder and Lightning but find myself thoroughly distracted by their inability to get there with any urgency. The sound is something like the Strokes with Lemmy's vocals screeching break neck through heartbreak "life-was-better-before-her" songs. In most instances, I wouldn't really mind this combination, but Modey Lemon isn't enough of either to be that genius seed.

The production values on Thunder and Lighting are nice in places. I mean, I actually feel like I'm in a biker bar listening to it. Of course, on the probable chance my local biker bar Kay's doesn't actually have Modey Lemon on their juke box, I should head there now.
