Power pop with a punk edge. How many albums does that phrase describe?
So many that it doesn't mean anything. How then, do I describe an album
that may be the definitive power pop with a punk edge recording?
Well, I guess I'm just going to have to tell you that 6X plays power pop
with a punk edge, and they do it superbly. The songs are great, and
lead singer Lara Kiang has a voice that's simultaneously tough and sweet
and perfect for what this band is doing. It's just so hard to find the
right words to differentiate this disc from all the others that are
trying to be this one. Take my word for it, this is the one. I'm sure
of it, because I've heard it. In fact, I'll let you go now. I'm going
to play it again. And again. Because this is the one.
