FREETOWN
Painless (Beatville)

All kinds of reggae come from this British trio's speakers, including rootsy
deep grooves, ska, and rock-steady. Though they handle all of it well, they
really hit their stride when they kick it into ska gear. "Skaffic Jam," in
fact, is one of the coolest ska grooves of the year. That may or may not be
enough to put Freetown in the pink in the incredibly competitive world of
ska, and I'm not going to attempt a prediction on this one, but it's safe
to say fans of the genre won't likely be disappointed with this CD. It's
definitely a feel-good thang.
