INEZ ANDREWS
Headline News (Peacock)

Headline News is drawn primarily from Inez Andrews first solo sessions
in 1972, after decades as a featured singer in gospel groups like the
Gospel Harmonettes, the Caravans and the Andrewettes. The selection is
rounded out by an Andrewettes cut, "It's In My Heart," which gives a
good feel for the role her powerful voice took in a group context.
Andrews possessed an impressive range, and the ability to project
impressively throughout that range. These tracks were cut at a point
when the power of her voice was near its peak, and the sessions
reproduced here gave her her signature hit, "Lord, Don't Move The
Mountain," which leads off the collection.
This is a fine compilation of tracks from one of the most memorable
voices in the gospel field.
