THE JOHN ENTWISTLE BAND
Left For Live (J-Bird)

Right up there with the Bill Wyman band. Poor John, seems all the
money the Who have generated throughout the ages have gone to
replacing broken equipment or up various nostrils. How else do you
explain his need to dust off them bones and hitch a ride with young
prog rocksters for a dicey tour (half the shows weren't booked)?
Attendance for said tour means you probably weren't privy to the
bombastic seventies style exploits that is The John Entwistle Band
experience, but hold on chump, you ain't getting off so lightly, cuz
here's a live recording to haunt you. 68 minutes of vamped up
schlock, highlighted by Godfrey (just a "Peter" and an "h" away)
Townsend's squealy solo-happy guitar, tweaked by the solo-happy
drumming of Steve Luongo and the slick solo-happy synth tinkling
of Gordon Cotten. Which leads us to the question of just what the
hell is John Entwistle doing here? He's about as present as the Doors
bass player (one, two ....). Bet this one sails further than a hockey
puck.
