Filmed July 2nd, 1990 for the German TV show, Ohne Filter, this is definitely not the explosive JGW concert we've all been waiting for someone to dig out of the vaults, but it has its charms and moments. First Watson has to get past a few awkward bits, the worst of which comes when he holds the microphone out for someone in the crowd to sing a chorus, only to discover they don't know the song. "Ooooh! WHAT?!," shouts Johnny, but he recovers quickly, high stepping across the stage (and probably remembering at this point that he is, after all, in Germany) and getting back into the groove. No such problem with his one 70s mega-hit, "A Real Mutha For Ya," of course. In fact, he plays it twice. There's enough of the late great Johnny's slightly wacky yet still cool personality coming through to make this worth watching, though it does make you yearn for a true document of the man at his best.
