DVD: GG Allin And The Murder Junkies Savage South (MVD)

It's a wonder really. A wonder that GG Allin, the notorious defecating heroin punkster ever managed to release records, get his shit together (heh-heh) to tour, and to get his ass on stage, since he spent most of his life strung out or behind bars. But here's proof that he actually took to the stage and on several occasions managed to run through an entire set of hardcore pummelling (audio and physical) in true show biz fashion. Savage South documents three shows from 1992 in which GG manages to follow a set list whilst engaging the crowd in various forms of abuse. The San Antonio show is ridiculously absurd as audience members keep charging the stage to wrassle with GG, who is all sweat and tattoos. And when not being assaulted, GG beats the gang to the punch by hammering his forehead bloody with the mike. It's all a very strange concoction of give and take flagellation that everyone seems to feed off of. It's a bit like watching a train wreck. Was there anyone quite like GG? Of course not.
