E.S. POSTHUMUS
Unearthed (Wigshop)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

E.S. Posthumus might be one of music's most interesting success stories in recent years. The brothers Vonlichten (Helmut and Franz) apparently made this recording as their debut project in 2001, releasing it through CDBaby.com. The music screams "soundtrack" in its every audible moment, with grand, sweeping soundscapes that inspire cinematic imagery even in the dark. Hollywood got hip to Unearthed and before you could say "big bitchin' blockbuster," the movies were full of these tracks and the Vonlichten kids' bank accounts were full of cash. Spider Man and Minority Report both make use of this music, and Cold Case uses "Nara" as its theme. So far it seems to be the only album in E.S. Posthumus' catalog, but I'm guessing it's because they're pretty busy scoring films now. All because of a homemade CD. If you're thing is soundtrack music, this is probably your ticket to nirvana. It was re-released this year on Wigshop and is readily available.
