PERRY JORDAN
Georgia Flyer (Planet 49 Records)
Reviewed by Eric Steiner
Perry Jordan's dreamed of recording a CD that captures his love for Southern music for over three decades, and he's realized this lifelong dream on Georgia Flyer. One of the leaders of the Midwestern country-rock band Heartsfield from the 70's, Perry's re-formed Heartsfield at select gigs and has continued to chase his musical muse. Explore Perry Jordan's work with Heartsfield at www.heartsfield.com, but pay close attention to how he's adapted to a roots/Americana/alt-country sound on Georgia Flyer. Heartsfield played alt-country long before that moniker was made up, and I hope that folks behind country music at XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio, in addition to Perry's hometown country station of US 99.5 FM, will consider Georgia Flyer for their playlists. Reminds me of early Marshall Tucker, Pure Prairie League, and of course, Heartsfield. Not a bad song in Perry's bunch, perfect for line dancing, Southern roadhouse boogie, or just plain kicking back with a country soundtrack.
