PINKEYE D'GEKKO
Dry Clothes For The Drowning (Force MP)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

Remember when Alice Cooper rocked? I don't mean that "Poison" metalish stuff, I'm talking about the good old days when the music had a killer groove and the band was playing some of the best honest t'God rock 'n' roll on the planet. Think "Under My Wheels" and "Is It My Body." How come we never get bands like that anymore? Well, we do, just not often enough. When we do, it's something to celebrate. Meet Pinkeye D'Gekko, a group of talented players with a healthy respect for grooves and vibes. Most of the time they're all about guitars, bass, drums and keyboards, but they do throw a few curveballs, as well. "The Poet" is a mellow little break from the rockin', completely spoken over a lush backdrop of electronic music and female harmony vocals. The album is not without duds, like the much-to-gutless "See You Again," but the rest of Dry Clothes For The Drowning makes up for that. The faithful (to The Beatles) version of "Slow Down" is a nice little cherry on top of the cake.
