One of the best garage-psych bands kicking around today, Australia's Stoneage Hearts have come up with a sound that includes enough pop structure to make most of the songs stick. Former Stem and DM3 Dom Mariani's voice helps, of course; he's one of the best vocalists in the genre, and no slouch on guitar, either. His "Green With Envy" is this album's guaranteed classic cut, a bulletproof tune with a simple, singalong chorus and a delicious balance of power and jangle. The album of ten originals is capped off by the only cover tune, a pretty faithful version of The Creation's "Biff Bang Pow." That would have been an apt title for this album, come to thing of it. I'm tellin' ya, there's a ridiculous amount of power being generated by this trio.
