CAIN ENABLERS
Cain Enablers (Aim/Burnside)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

A blues album that never, ever bogs down in traditional repetitious formulas, which some love, some hate, and others respect while getting bored after sixty bars. Cain Enablers employ unexpected timing shifts and even entire scene shifts to prevent the listener from losing interest, but even if they went straight at twelve bar blues, their musicianship and creativity would hold our attention. Solos are never same ol' same ol'. Larry Treadwell's guitar work is never overstated yet always leaves you grinning and wishing you could tell him stuff he probably already knows about his talent, and Rick Germond's harmonica solos are hot as hell, which is why Dread Zeppelin brought him in for "When The Levee Breaks." If you've heard that, you've got an inkling of what he can do. Cain Enablers' brand of blues is fairly eclectic, but I think it's safe to give it an umbrella name of "feelgood blues." Don't expect to be crying in your beer when you listen to this one.
