Work The Switch (JSNTGM)
Reviewed by Alan Wright
A British trio that specialize in catchy punk-pop. I really like the cover
design of this CD, which reminds of the minimalist approach of a lot of early punk releases. Lyrically, they are somewhat vague, and minimalist as well, with some songs only having a few lines, or in the case of the feedback-laden dirge "Final Echo," only one line. Their music is straightforward, no-frills punk, sorta reminding me in spots of the Doughboys, Husker Du, Superchunk and a bit of the Buzzcocks. Lots of dynamics in the songs, loud-then-quiet parts and neat guitar stuff going on. I dig the manic energy behind such songs as "Work The Switch," "Strike Third," "Robot Sign In/Out" and"Joy!"
