KYLE SWAGER
The Other Side Of Words (Delvian)

Reviewed by Rusty Pipes

Keith Swager has a flair for instrumental music. His work is mostly in a sedate motif, modern with pianos and other keyboards, guitars, drums and a dash of flute, but without an over-reliance on the electronics. Instead he relies on crafting engaging melodies and plays all the instruments here. My favorite piece by far is "Samsara" which has a slightly more Eastern approach, but it's very well handled and subtly pleasing. His evocative touch on all the cuts is thankfully without that sappiness that marks so much of the instrumental material that is aired on the smooth jazz stations.

I can imagine Kyle working on film scores. The Other Side Of Words is quite enjoyable when you need something while reading or working on a project that requires a lot of deep thought.
