THE USA IS A MONSTER
Tasheyana Compost (LOAD Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is actually the record I needed to listen to after a long day of
listening to dreamy, ethereal, shoegazer crap, which is not to say that all
shoegazer stuff is crap, but the stuff I was listening to today really was.
This is chaotic, noisy, astructural, undisciplined, and wonderful, pure
poetry about crack pipes and platypuses and death and being environmentally
conscious - all the things I care about on one big album. It's kind of like
what you'd expect to hear if you brought a shitload of instruments into an
institution for the mildly insane and passed them out with the condition
that they had to record an album in exactly one hour. You know, that's
something I'd like to do some day. I bet it'd be a bitchin' tax write-off.
