Nigel (Silver Girl Records)

While I know this isn't really a children's record, it feels like it to me,
with its slow repetitive percussion, gentle piano interludes, and soft-sung
male and female vocals, courtesy of band members Bebe and Damon Ari-shea.
Perhaps it's because I was rocking a baby to sleep both times I listened to
the record, and the music's tempo lent itself so well to that particular
activity. On the other hand, this music would work well as pirate music,
too, if the pirates were into shoegazer pop and liked pianos and guitars
instead of accordions. The whole album just has this up-and-down motion to
it that makes either scenario appropriate.
