CADILLAC JONES
Junk In The Trunk (Harmonized Records)

Think of Herbie Hancock's album Headhunters meets the immortal Paul's Boutique fused by six white dudes in orange matching exercise suits. Impossible? Not really, not when it is Cadillac Jones and certainly not on the album Junk In the Trunk. Sure the name is nothing but a bad fat girl jab, but there is nothing cruel about this work except that it eventually has to end.
Recorded at the Zero Return Studio in Atlanta Georgia, this whole concept as presented leads me to believe that if the sound of the south is going to rise again, it will not be wearing gray -- it will be humming the anthem "Sammy Sosa" and riding around on souped up BMX bikes with fuzzy dice. I'd gripe about the inclusion of John Coltrane's "Giant Steps," but then I listened to it.
It's pretty damn fat.
