There is an audio quality I like to describe as the "salt box" that comes when I call friends on their cell phones. It's a sort of hollow ambience, like we're talking in a metal chamber at the bottom of the Bering Sea, amid a submarine warhead test.

Throw in some drowning guitars and maladjusted lyrics and you've got Cut Out.
