STONE COYOTES
Rise From The Ashes (Red Cat)

Reviewed by John Sekerka

Momma sings and slings an axe, daddy beats the skins and junior thumps the bass - ladies and gents, presenting the premier family power trio in rock and roll today: the Stone Coyotes. Barbara Keith made records back in the sixties, which makes her seething, youthful vigour rather remarkable. We're not talking Shirley Partridge folks. This is knock 'em down bluesy bar rock territory. Rise From the Ashes veers more toward the ballad side of things, but none of the power generated by previous slabs is missing. It's just a more simmering, concentrated power, giving Keith's full throttle vocal the stage it deserves.
