NEUROTIC SWINGERS
Artrats (Demolition Derby/Nitro)

Reviewed by DJ Johnson

Loud, chunky, powerfist punk like The Damned and The Saints used to make, now being brewed in France by a band who even came up with a name cool enough to do the music justice: Neurotic Swingers. Nothing new, nothing that's going to send thousands of kids to the guitar shop with for a career change, because it's been done before, but it's good to know the torch is still being carried. The guitars are distorted and powerful, but still edgy enough to deliver well defined chord changes and mini-hooks. The rest is up to the assault-and-battery bass and drums that fly fast but always in the spirit of rock, never in that jackhammer mantra that punk became in the late 80s. In other words, this'll please traditional punks and garage freaks alike.
