Irrational Anthem (7940 Records)

"I'm not saying what I'm supposed to say, am I making you uncomfortable?"
sings RPM on her debut effort, Irrational Anthem. If she is, though, it's
your problem, because the 20 something NYU grad isn't about to tailor her
message for your comfort. She is, though, going to rock your world while
she rocks her ass off if you can handle her unrepentantly direct assault on
hate, hypocrisy and her exaltation in the sheer glory of unrestrained self
expression.
Front loaded with the anti-fundie fury of "Goddamnit," she goes on to
celebrate eroticism without smut, love without dependence, esteem without
ego and at least one song, "If I Had A Rock Band," that's just as much fun
to listen to as anything I've heard this year (look for a major air guitar
revival!). She does, of course, have a rock band, for which I'm very
grateful. Even better, she has a great rock record, and I can't begin to
tell you how much you need a copy.
Track List:
Goddamnit * Can't Take Me Anywhere * Don't Be You * Girl Next
Door * Liquid You * Unlike Me * If I Had A Rock Band * Talk You Down * Play
God * Helium * A Happy Song
